Good afternoon, what another lovely February day we have today! I’m typing this from my kitchen that’s filled with natural sunlight, the smell of my bloomed daffodils and Kings Of Leon playing in the background. Are you sure it’s not summer?
I think this is my first book tag, I was tagged by the lovely Inge over at The Belgian Reviewer Blog , thank – you, this tag seems fun! You can check out Inge’s answers here.
Here are my answers to Igne’s questions!
#1 Text message or call?
Text message every time. I’ll speak on the phone to my mum because her and technology do not get along, but a majority of the time I’ll let a call ring out with a reply ‘sorry I can’t pick up, is everything okay?’ that sounds so bad, but if it’s important obviously I’ll pick up / ring back. #TeamText
#2 Do you read before bed?
I do, I think it’s the best! Lately, I’ve been falling down social media holes and not reading so much before bed, I’m fighting it though! I have lost hours of sleep by picking up an amazing book and hour before it’s time to sleep, recent reads include Blood Orange, The Swap and Last Ones Left Alive that have kept me up way past my bedtime!
#3 Salt or sweet?
I’m team salt all the way, although I really shouldn’t because of my unreliable kidneys. I would 100% choose a packet of prawn cocktail crisps over a bag of Malteasers. That being said, I am partial to something sweet after dinner, my favourite is apple pie and icecream.
#4 Do you believe in love at first sight?
Personally, I don’t. Some people may have experienced and therefore believes but I don’t. What I do believe in is fate and destiny, let me tell you two stories; one of love at first sight and one of fate. The setting is Benidorm in the 1980’s. A group of Welsh valley lads on, well a lads holiday. Enjoying a drink in a Welsh bar when in walk two women from a small town in Wales. One lad approaches the woman and her friend, shook their hands and introduces himself as ‘Raz’. The valley boy was my dad; as soon as he saw my mum he knew that she was the one, he chased her around like a lost puppy and then he followed her home. My mum called him her shadow, and even though he died in 2015, she says that he still is. For her, there is no-one else, like it was for him. That is a story of love at first sight and destiny. My story, is a bit different, I met my love when I was 15, when I was still a child. I was demanding, emotional and quite frankly wild. He was quiet, introvert and laid back. The relationship lasted a year, but at that age it was just cool to be in a relationship, throwing the ‘L’ word around like it didn’t matter. Fat forward five years later, we were best friends, we supported one another and grew together. I had a baby with someone, cut him off because I was told to and it was heart-breaking. Fast forward ten years, we own our own home, had a little man to bring our family to the well round number of four and we couldn’t imagine our lives without one another. It may not have been love at first sight for us, but we were meant to be together, the trials and tribulations we’ve gone through only strengthens that realisation. Sorry about the babbling!
#5 Do you have a special strategy to get more followers on your blog?
I don’t, I have 95 followers and I’ve got those organically, with posting regularly and interacting. I haven’t interacted as much as I’d like but I’m getting there!
#6 Sandals or sneakers?
Sneakers, they’re just so comfortable and I don’t need to worry about the chipped nail polish on my toenails. That being said, I do wear sandals at the beach OR I just go barefoot (at the beach).
#7 Name one book you read (or bought) because of the cover
I can’t name one because they came as a boxset, but the Stephen King Halloween editions of ‘Cell’, ‘Christine’, ‘Bag Of Bones’ and ‘The Shining’, I’m also going to buy the new Pet Sematary book because of the cover too, even though I already have a copy.
#8 Hamburgers or hotdogs?
Hamburgers! Preferably cheeseburgers!
#9 What is the most recent book that you couldn’t finish?
I’m not going to name it because that’s not how I roll, but it was my mistake because I didn’t realise that I’d picked up the 3rd in a series. So possible after I read the first two I’ll go back to it.
#10 A skirt or pants?
Do leggings count as pants? I love leggings with a long top, to all those legging haters; I don’t care, I’d rather be comfy than wear bloody jeans! I am partial to a little leg in the summer though!
#11 What was your favourite holiday so far and why?
Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria. That’s where we holidayed growing up, it’s where some of my happiest memories are. I haven’t been there in five years, but I’m hoping to take a trip out there soon. I also have to say Belgium, I stayed at Oostende for the weekend with the other half, where we got drunk and got matching waffle tattoos. Ah memories!
So, that’s me! And here are my questions, I can’t wait to read your answers!
#1 Physical or electronic books? Why?
#2 What is your favourite season?
#3 What is one thing on your bucket list?
#4 What did you want to be when you were younger?
#5 If you could time travel, what time period would you visit and why?
#6 Who would you like to invite to a dinner party? Living or dead?
#7 What three songs would be included in the playlist of your life?
#8 Favourite book genre?

Oh I loved reading your stories of love at first sight and your own destiny! Loved all your answers and so happy I got to know you a little better! Quite surprised you liked Belgium as your holiday destination too ;-). I’m very happy I don’t have to answer your questions though ;-). Oh btw, I know my name is quite difficult for the English (they usually write it as Inga) but it’s Inge ;-). Thanks for doing the tag, that was superfast !!

I am so sorry! Ive changed it now, I’m such a banana! Your questions were awesome! And your own answers. I got a bit emotional on that one. Because my parents love was breath taking, my mum says even now she keeps falling in love with him through memories. He’s her soulmate. I loved Bruge especially! I was motivated 🤣 thankyou again for the tag!

No worries, you weren’t the first nor the last. I felt it! So wonderful to hear that it really can happen! I’ve never been to Bruges (I think) and only once or twice to the sea… I live 100 km from the sea and it’s not that it’s that far but there’re too many interesting cities in between :-):-)

Me too, and like I’ve said, I can’t imagine being with anyone else, no matter how many times he annoys me 🤣 wow, what’s your favourite city?

Oww 💜 My favorite city? London 😋 I don’t have a fav place here but my home town Sint-Niklaas will always be special, and I like Mechelen too because they’re quite friendly there and they all speak Dutch. Where I live and work the majority speaks French and I’m not always in the mood to make an effort 😋

I love reading before bed, it’s probably when I do the majority of my reading lately. Also I really want to read Blood orange.

Blood Orange is amazing!! And it helps to unwind, but those unputdownable are beautiful sleep deprivers! What are you reading at the moment?
