Well, isn’t Dawn French a superb author? I have always been a fan of Dawn but have yet to indulge in any of her writings, that has changed since I read Because of You! I began the physical paperback of this stunning novel but when a day of train travel made its way into my diary, I decided to treat myself to the audiobook and I listened to practically the whole book in a day.
We begin our journey into this novel at a hospital where two women’s lives are to be entwined, collided together through tragedy, love, and hope. I was immediately drawn into Dawn’s writing and the lives of her characters by my heartstrings. The emotion that radiates from the pages grasps your heart in the hands of the characters, their lives, leaving you invested in their unravelling storylines. Dawn has created both Hope and Anna, two women who experience two quite different lives after the births of their daughters.
The storyline is knitted together with emotion and witt, with characters that will make you laugh out loud, along with sprinklings of events that will bring a tear to your eye – Because of You is a read that you will find yourself getting lost in, it will warm your heart while breaking it all at the same time. Dawn has approached the echoing theme of this book with sensitivity, with an array of diverse characters, some you’ll love and some that are meant to make you mad and get under your skin.
If you are looking for a special novel, then I highly recommend Because of You but be sure to have tissues close by, you will definitely need them.
