The serial killer is behind bars. But the murders are just beginning…
DC Maggie Jamieson’s past comes back to haunt her in this dark and gripping serial killer thriller.
Three missing women running out of time…
They were abducted years ago. Notorious serial killer Bill Raven admitted to killing them and was sentenced to life.
The case was closed – at least DC Maggie Jamieson thought it was…
But now one of them has been found, dismembered and dumped in a bin bag in town.Forensics reveal that she died just two days ago, when Raven was behind bars, so Maggie has a second killer to find.
Because even if the other missing women are still alive, one thing’s for certain: they don’t have long left to live…
I was so thrilled to be invited on this blog tour by Sarah, I thoroughly enjoyed Noelle’s first novel Dead Inside, the first of the DC Maggie Jamieson’s series. Thanks to Sarah for the spot and to One More Chapter for providing me with an early copy of Dead Wrong in preparation of the tour. The second installment of the series was published on the 14th of May, you can grab yourself a copy here.
Can I firstly say that Noelle was made to write police procedural, her previous career as a senior probation officer for 18 years, a job that covered cases of domestic violence and abuse – mixed with her various degree credentials shine through her writing. Her personal understanding of how violent cases work in a Detective setting gives an extra depth to the novels that she writes. I have loved both books in the DC Maggie Jamieson novels and I look forward to loving the following books in the series.
The concept of the book is an grippingly interesting one, a perceived miscarriage of justice – a man in prison, convicted of unspeakable murders. But what happens when the murders start up again. Is he innocent? Dead Wrong, for me is the making of our protagonist Maggie, you can see her becoming conflicted about the conviction, evidence versus her gut feeling. In Dead Inside I didn’t really feel that we got to know Maggie on a personal level, but within this novel who she is begins to get drawn out. We are able to see her more as a real person, with relationships, friendships and her thought process – for me she becomes an awesome multilayered individual.
With the well written short, punchy chapters, Noelle draws you into a fast paced cat and mouse case, one where you can feel the dangling of a carrot and Maggie is working on high speed to reach it. The suspense factor kept me hooked, it enthralled me and I couldn’t help but hold my breath at a handful of the tautest moments. Dead Wrong is a great, well planned out police procedural that includes a splashing of action and a sprinkle of thrill. Overall, I absolutely recommend the DC Maggie Jamieson series.
