#BlogTour: The Serial Dater’s Shopping List by Morgen Bailey @MorgenWriterUK @BOTBSPublicity #TheSerialDatersShoppingList #Review

Good day there, yes it’s me – I haven’t been on the blog front constantly these past few weeks but I am so excited to be on the blog tour for The Serial Dater’s Shopping List by Morgen Bailey. I would like to extend my thanks to Sarah Hardy for my space on board the tour, she dropped the invite into my email mailbox the EXACT time that I needed a lovely summer read (that’s her claim to being a superhero right there!) Gah, I just loved it!

Morgen Bailey is a writer, editor, creative writing tutor, and blogger. Morgen writes novels, articles, ‘how to’s and some poetry but her first love is short stories. She lives in Northamptonshire, England, and shares her home with a very elderly but still young at heart Jack Russell-cross dog. Morgen’s hobbies are mostly writing-related but she also enjoys helping out in her local charity shop… sorting out their donated books.

31 dates in 31 days – what could possibly go wrong? Isobel MacFarlane is a recently-turned-40 journalist who usually writes a technology column for a newspaper based in Northampton, England, but her somewhat-intimidating boss, William, has set her the task of meeting 31 men, via a local internet dating site, all within a month. Having an active, though fruitless, social life with her friend and ‘Health & Beauty’ colleague Donna, she knows what she wants in a man, so creates a shopping list of dos and don’ts, and starts ticking them off as she meets Mr Could Be Right Except For, Mr Not Bad, Mr Oh My Goodness and Mr Oh So Very Wrong.

Yes, you read that correctly – 31 dates in 31 days, I feel knackered just thinking about it! For Izzy, she thinks that this column segment will save her job. So before we know it, we have been willingly dragged along on these 31 dates, to be a fly on the wall during some pretty hilariously cringey dates. From turning up to a date where someone orders a platter for two (for himself) before Izzy even gets there, to a man with a very wandering eye. I felt myself nodding along to Izzy’s shopping list of qualities, while agreeing with some of the qualities to leave on the shelf of singledom. I think everyone has been on a variety of dates in there lifetime, I know I have and The Serial Dater’s Shopping List helped me remember the diabolical situations that I found myself in, in an hilarious fashion.

Immediately, Morgen’s style of writing made me feel as though I was reading a Sex in the City – How to Lose A Guy in 10 days hybrid, it made for the absolute perfect garden read. Just don’t make your coffee too hot or it’ll burn when you spit it out…. possibly through your nose! Not only does TSDSL bring an bucketful of humour, but Izzy reads between the lines of her date – picking up bits of information that explains the behaviours.

As I said further up, I received this read at the perfect time. I’d just finished a thriller and needed something light, easy to read and enjoyable which this little number ticked all the boxes. I couldn’t put it down and I’m always super fussy with rom-com type reads, with The Serial Dater’s Shopping List I was fully engaged and can I say obsessed? Oh well I just did. I was completely obsessed and it left me just in a lovely happy bubble.

So if you’re looking for a giggle or ten, check out this read, it’s available now in both paperback and on Kindle Unlimited here. Go read it and let me know what you think! Thanks again Sarah for having me on-board the tour. Don’t take my bookish thoughts for it, check out the reviews of all the other bloggers on the tour with the use of #TheSerialDaterSshoppingList and prepare your TBR for to get a new addition.
