We are almost and the end of 2018, which has me thinking about how I will read next year. I don’t want to neglect my lovely books to read equally lovely ARCs, this being said I have decided to put a plan into motion; in forms of two read-a-longs that both take a year and prior planning of TBR piles. I thought both of these, especially the to read planning, will allow me to tackle the backlist of books that longingly stare at me from their shelves, whereas still give me some wiggle room to read ARCs. Win win situation.
The first read-along that I’ll be participating in will be Jobis89‘s, focusing on Stephen King’s Dark Tower series. The whole series has been sitting on my shelves for years due to my better half being a huge fan, so I’m pulling off the Gunslinger shaped bandage and going in. If you’d like to join, pop over to Johann’s AMAZING Instagram page, follow and send her a message for the details of when each book will be read; some are over two months whereas others have a duration of one.
My personal year long read-along will coincide with Jobis89’s is a re-read of the Harry Potter series. I read them last year and promised that I would re-read them this year but have left it SO late. The plan is to read one book every 1 / 2 months. The plan of action is as follows:
January – Harry Potter and the Philosophers (Sorcerers) Stone
February – Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
March – Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
April – Break
May & June – Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
July & August – Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
September – Break
October – Harry Potter and the Half – Blooded Prince
November & December – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
I will be posting about my Harry Potter-licious read – along on both twitter and Instagram with a hashtag I shall reveal in due course. If you are interested there will be an opportunity for you to join a group chat, if you let me know I can invite you! This will be uber fun, I promise!
*It has also come to my attention that the Harry Potter series can be read as part of Kindle Unlimited (which is a subscription for a book a month).
Are you planning to join any read-alongs next year (as well as this one? *wink wink nudge nudge*) or any reading challenges such as Beat the Backlist being run by Novel Knight? Whatever your reading plans are for 2019, enjoy and
Hmmm….I may take leaf from your book and plan better. My Jan and Feb is already totally full.

It’s fitting in with book tours I’m struggling with. I need to plan on a blank week from time to time x

That’s what I’ve been doing, I think it is helping! There are so many reading planners out now, maybe it would help? X

I just keep a list as I’m terrible with diarys but it helps me see what’s in for that month. I’ve been really good the past few weeks and decided to close my reviews for Jan and Feb rather than trying to squash them in. It’s hard if a good book comes along for a tour but I’m human and I cann’t read 24/7.
